The seminar is an intensive, three-day learning experience designed to help educators deepen their understanding of financial literacy and develop business-related skills that they can seamlessly integrate into their classrooms. While finance is a central theme, participants will also learn about entrepreneurship, leadership, marketing and relationship-building to help their students develop real-world job skills. The seminar is unlike most professional-development opportunities in that it exposes educators to an advanced level of learning on business and financial literacy education that only world-class Wharton faculty and PwC executives can deliver. In this sophisticated educational environment — paired with practical classroom strategies and regular networking forums and idea exchanges — educators enjoy an inspiring and comprehensive seminar experience.
If you are a high school educator who is interested in deepening your knowledge about business and personal finance and you are ready for a challenge, then you should consider applying to the PwC-KWHS Seminar for High School Educators. If you are accepted and agree to attend, then you are making a pledge to travel to the seminar location for the scheduled program and to participate fully in the experience, including attending ALL sessions. We expect attendees to be mindful of the financial commitment that is made on their behalf, as well as be prepared for the sophistication and rigor of the seminar experience.
Financial literacy is a deep understanding of how money works in the world, including basic concepts like earning and saving, as well as more complex ideas like inflation and compound interest. People who are financially literate are better able to use knowledge and skills to make informed decisions about their finances and manage money effectively throughout their lifetime.
Business responsibility involves understanding the concepts, language and skills necessary to be confident and successful in today’s business world. This includes, but is not limited to, leadership, entrepreneurship, diversity, ethics, communications, teamwork, marketing, management, networking and globalization.

- All other expenses incurred are the responsibility of the attendee. Examples of expenses not covered include taxis, meals outside of the seminar, transportation to and from other area airports outside of ORD or MDW and hotel incidentals (movie rentals, room service, etc.).
*A Visa card will be provided to help cover associated costs, such as gas and tolls, and complimentary parking will be provided.
**Round-trip ground transportation will be provided to/from Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD) or Chicago Midway Airport (MDW) to the seminar.
Given the overwhelming interest in the seminar and the number of applications that we receive from qualified educators around the country, we are unfortunately unable to accept everyone who applies. If you are chosen to attend the seminar, then we ask you to recognize that you are being given an opportunity that many other educators would also like to have, and please follow through with your commitment to attend and to participate fully.
You must have a permanent teaching position or supervisory role in education. You must teach personal finance, accounting, business or a business-related subject at the high school level in the United States or be in a supervisory role to teachers who teach these subjects.
At this time, the seminar is only open to high school educators in the United States.

While we are not accepting applications from previous participants, we ask for your help in spreading the word to your colleagues about our upcoming seminars – including high school teachers, principals, administrators and superintendents.

Yes. Participants are expected to attend all events during the seminar, including meals, the faculty teaching sessions, panels and individual speaker presentations. Certificates from Knowledge@Wharton will only be provided to participants who fulfill this attendance requirement.
The seminar will provide 20 hours of professional development based on two full eight-hour days and one four-hour day of class time and networking. Those who attend the entire three-day seminar will receive a certificate of completion from Knowledge@Wharton. Participants will then need to contact their state Departments of Education and/or school districts to receive credit approval. Knowledge@Wharton and PwC US will not be responsible for following up on professional-development accreditation.
